Okja
title sequence
1:08 min | Vector Animated Film
With my love for films by Bong Joon Ho, I redesigned a title sequence for the movie "Okja".
Storybard:
As Okja’s story revolves around consumerism and animal cruelty, I wanted the title sequence to make the audience connect to how in their everyday life they can find themselves as a part of the food chain. I introduce a delicious steak at first which eventually gets linked to commercial animal breeding and then Okja itself. To encapsulate the entire narrative, at the end Okja is seen to break the chain of cruelty.

Yellow - Names to be displayed
Blue - Movement of camera
Red - Movement of assets
As Okja discusses commercial livestock farming, I chose to use vector assets for the elements associated with that world. The sharp, inorganic look of these assets contrasts with Okja’s hand-painted design, which conveys an organic feel. In this way, the clash between inhumanity and innocence is reflected through the distinct artistic styles.
